Our office project

For those of you following our on-a-budget office update, here are some images of the almost completed project!

All of the woodwork, built-ins, and trim in the office were the original oak color. Our painters did a fantastic job painting! A quick coat of brown spray paint took care of updating the hardware on the built-ins.

If you've been to my house, you know how much I love my wall galleries! So, naturally when deciding what to hang on the large wall above the sofa, my first thought was some sort of gallery. Awesomely enough, when we purchased our home from the original owners (who had it custom built), they had all of the blueprints that were used during the construction of our home! So, of course I had to find a way to incorporate the blueprint of the elevation of our home and what better way than in a fun little gathering above the sofa. I plan on putting our family photo in the bottom left frame to complete the look :)

The best panoramic view I can get :)

And, the crowing jewel is....the desk! The $42 desk we purchased from Goodwill!! Have I mentioned that Goodwill shopping is my guilty pleasure?? At any rate, I saw this desk and fell in love with it! It was stained an awful golden oak color and then covered in an orange-tinted shellac that was just hideous! But I saw the potential and after begging my husband to commit to helping me strip, sand, and re-stain this sucker, we bought it! This little gem is actually quite large (30" deep x 60" wide) and makes for a fantastic work space. I also love that I have beautiful views of my gardens surrounding the desk and tons of natural light pouring in at any time of day.

This couch was a hand-me-down from my father-in-law and at first sight I wasn't quite sure if it would work because, well, it was a little tore up from a cat and had a few too many stains for my liking. But, with a few snips of the scissors and three deep cleanings with my mega-vacuum it turned out like new! I love it and I love that it was free! The pillows were custom made by yours truly with the help of Grama Pumpkin and a few glasses of wine :)

Another view of my fabulous desk and Pottery Barn curtains :))

This is a gorgeous room-so comfy and cozy---its the place I sleep in when I stay over. And I learned the hard way that the kids are NOT allowed to eat in here (even when they tell me its ok as long as they are really, really careful!)
